Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union Implements US Biometrics’ Fingerprint Biometric Access Control System

(allCUnews.com) - Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Austin, Texas, recently implemented US Biometrics’ AccessQ system for controlling physical access to entrances with fingerprint biometrics. US Biometrics has introduced its “Ease Into Biometrics” and “Secure One Door” incentive programs in response to the current state of the economy.

“AccessQ has allowed us to greatly enhance security in our IT server room but also makes it much more convenient for our employees,” states Jimmy Taylor, GTFCU Systems Administrator. “We have begun our biometrics program by controlling physical security but are exploring the addition of logical security due to the expandability of the system.”

About The Products Implemented

AccessQ biometric devices are designed to be a secure, convenient, and cost-effective alternative to passwords, badges, swipe cards and PINs. They offer levels of authorization for an individual wanting access through a door or gate and uses the existing local area network which reduces the cost of installation.

CentralQ software allows for the storing of credentials including fingerprint profiles, names, addresses, and employee information. It provides a mechanism for scheduling access based on authorization levels, particular groups and the time of day.

CentralQ Reporting allows administrators to view who accessed which devices at what time as well as provide some basic statistics about the system’s usage.

“We’re very pleased that Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union has decided to take a proactive approach regarding their physical security needs,” states David Delgrosso, President of US Biometrics. “Using biometrics for access control will have a very quick return on investment for GTFCU and will allow cost effective expansion of IT security. Managing one system instead of several has its advantages. As identity theft continues to increase in the financial industry, preventing fraud instead of reacting to it saves an organization a tremendous amount of money.”
